A Method of Calcium Supplementation for Greenhouse Vegetables
Vegetable is the plant that needs more calcium, however, general situation is that farmers feed vegetables with N, P, K and neglect calcium. Calcium deficiency has become a serious problem which impact on vegetable quality and yield. So, the problem is how to feed crops with calcium befittingly.
1. Choose a appropriate calcium fertilizer
Different calcium fertilizers have different effects. The PH value of greenhouse soil is 6.5~7.5, so farmers should choose alkaline or neutral fertilizer.
2. Apply fertilizer at the right time
After an exuberant growth period, the calcium nutrition in the soil begins to decrease, this period is the best time for farmers to use calcium fertilizer.
3. Apply fertilizer in the right way
Spread organic fertilizer and hydrated lime to the surface, then plow into the ground. Vegetables need additional fertilizer during vigorous growth period.
